Get Crafty in Derbyshire this Summer with Workshops and Kits

Crafty You Crafty Me started up during the pandemic designing and making craft kits here in Derbyshire. To date kits have predominantly been retailed online, but with covid restrictions lifting founder Sarah Hodgkinson is excited to grow the company's list of stockists across the region and to restart outdoor workshop.

Sarah said "I'm really proud to be stocked in shops across our county, it's great to see a product you've designed on sale and I love working with local businesses" Sarah continued "I've recently added my company to the 'Made In Derbyshire' site and have found some fantastic business on there which I hope to work with".

With the days getting longer and warmer, the Hilton-based firm has also launched its 2021 series of Craft in the Park workshops

From 4th May, craft workshops will take place on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday evenings in Hilton Park and include a range of crafts, including needle felting, mosaics, punch needle embroidery and felt garland. According to Sarah, due to its relaxing nature, interest in craft is continuing to rise and with people keen to get back out socialising again she is expecting the sessions to prove popular.

She said: “When I launched Crafty You Crafty Me my aim was to make craft accessible to a wide range of people. We launched Craft in the Park last summer as a way of bringing people together to craft when social activities were limited and they turned out to be hugely successful with people coming from as far away as Matlock and Ashby. After the positive reaction to the workshops last year I’m so glad that we’re able to return and after a winter of being stuck inside at home, I can’t wait to get back out crafting in the fresh air. Our range of workshops has grown over the winter and I’m excited to be bringing new crafts to the community alongside the old favourites.”

Emma Cooper from Hilton, who attended the workshops last summer, said: “I really enjoyed Craft in the Park. It is such a unique opportunity to do craft and be outdoors."

In addition to the twice weekly workshops in Hilton there will also be four special workshops at Tutbury Castle from May to August, with plans also being worked up to launch a range of indoor workshops in the autumn. Crafty You Crafty Me has been going from strength-to-strength since its launch last July. Having been acclaimed as a highly commended new business and part of their Galaxy of Rising Stars in the recent Marketing Derby awards, it is now shortlisted for the Mainframe Derby Make and Trade award.
