Game On For Derby Business Community

Nearly 200 people from businesses and organisations across Derby took part in the first ever Derby Business Games on Thursday July 6 – designed to be the grown up version of the traditional school sports day.

Teams of eight competed in a wide range of competitions from rounders and dodgeball to egg and wheelbarrow races in the event.  It was hosted by the University of Derby at Kedleston Road, organised by Derby-based HUUB Events and sponsored by Timms Solicitors.

The afternoon finished with relays and a tug of war finale before trophies and medals were presented.

One of the main winners on the day was commercial property agents FHP who won the rounders, sack race and wheelbarrow events.

Law firm Flint Bishop won the three-legged race and were joint winners of the dodgeball competition with Sporting Joint who also won the welly wanging competition.

Digital design agency 3 Guru won the egg and spoon race final whilst wooden spoons were awarded to Timms solicitors and the University of Derby teams.

HUUB Events organiser Will Evans said: “The first Derby Business Games were a huge success and we plan to make this an annual event for the whole business community to enjoy.

“Everybody entered into the friendly but competitive spirit and it was great to see so many people recapture their youth and hark back to their school sports day.

Timms’ Managing Partner Fiona Moffat added: “Despite going home with the wooden spoon, we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening which was a resounding success.”

HUUB Events next event is the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon on Sunday July 23. For more information about this and other events, please visit www.huubevents.com, like the Facebook page HUUBEvents and follow on Twitter @HuubEvents.
