Floral Festival Colour in Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter

The Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have commissioned a large number of colourful hanging baskets across both areas ahead of the late summer and Autumn festivals that will take to the local streets.

Funding for the project has been provided by both BIDs with further sponsorship in St Peters Quarter by G Wathall & Son, independent funeral directors, and Intu Derby shopping Centre.

Martin Langsdale is chair of the Cathedral Quarter – voted best city location in the Great British High Street Awards, and Helen Wathall is chair of St Peters Quarter which launched its five-year programme in April.

They explained: “The hanging baskets are now well established in the BID areas and add colour and vibrancy to the streets ahead of such important festivals as Derby Festé at the end of September and Derby Folk Festival in early October.

“Both events will bring a wide range of high quality street entertainment to our streets and we wanted to ensure that the areas look welcoming to the many thousands of visitors who will be coming here.”
