Feb deadline looms for Fringe entrants!

Fringe performers and exhibitors are being urged to enter this summer’s Buxton’s Fringe as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the specially discounted £55 entry fee available until February 28th.

There are already nearly 40 events for the festival which runs from July 5 to 23 - and more are coming in all the time. An already bulging Music category includes multi-award winners such as singer Egriega, early music group Mr Simpson’s Little Consort and the Ordsall Acappella Singers.

In Theatre there is a chance to see Nick Danan (an award winner for his Macbeth in Poole’s Cavern) starring in St Nicholas from Strange Fish Theatre Company. Meanwhile Split Infinitive explores identity and attraction in A Caravan Named Desire and Library Theatre Touring Company returns with Alan Bennett’s A Lady of Letters.

In other categories, Mike Venables offers banter and badinage, the National Youth Folklore Troupe of England puts on a family ceilidh and globe-trotting podcast star Greg Byron presents #StandUpPoet. There will be Art at the Crescent from Peak District Artisans and in the And More category, at least two magicians plus a mixed-media performance with a message from French artist Yvette Ribot-Smith.

With many more entries likely to come in before the April 16th closing date for the printed programme, Fringe marketing officer Stephanie Billen says: “It is great to see such a variety of acts coming through in so many different categories. It feels as if there is a renewed confidence from performers which is fantastic to see.”

Full details on how to enter are available under Take Part on www.buxtonfringe.org.uk. Managed venues may work to earlier deadlines. Events are listed as soon as they enter offering participants useful early publicity.
