Family Fun in October Half Term

Family Fun in October Half Term

In Derby are preparing for a busy half term this October, with lots of offer for everybody to enjoy around the city. From leisure activities to craft projects and more, there’s plenty to keep families busy and entertained! The half term will run from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 October.

Springwood Leisure Centre will be holding a Halloween bouncy castle and soft play session for little ones aged crawling to 6 years old. This is a great opportunity to dress up in the spookiest outfits and have fun! The session will be on Thursday 26 October at 9:30am at a cost of £2.50 per child (parents participate for free). Older children can enjoy Spooktacular Disco Fever – a chance to break out the fancy dress and dance to the latest music! Under 12s can head to the leisure centre on Monday 23 October at 3pm for £3.

Families can give track cycling a go at Derby Arena with the family track cycling sessions. No experience is needed to give the sport a go – qualified coaches will provide advice and equipment for everybody to enjoy some time on the track! Sessions will be taking place on Monday 23 October, Tuesday 24 October and Thursday 26 October and children must be 9 years or older to participate. Alternatively, young people aged 9 to 15 years can take part in the youth beginner cycling sessions on Monday 23 October, Tuesday 24 October and Thursday 26 October for £10.50. Times and prices are available to view at inderby.org.uk/holidays.

Queen’s Leisure Centre will have plenty of fun for families with pool parties taking place on Tuesday 24 and Thursday 26 October including music, floats and inflatables for £4.10 per person. The popular family splash sessions are back on Monday 23, Wednesday 25 and Friday 27 October. This is the perfect time to enjoy a laidback swim with the family, as there will be floats and toys. Times for both of these activities are available online at inderby.org.uk/holidays.

Craft enthusiasts can head to A Stroppy Workshoppy, which will be held at Markeaton Park Community Room from Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 October, and the Guildhall Theatre Clubrooms from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 October. These fun make, play and take workshops for princes, princesses and their families will be held by Babbling Vagabonds – the team behind this year’s Christmas show at the Guildhall Theatre: Prince Stroppy Pants and the Christmas Caper. Families can learn to make puppets of vile villains and unlikely heroes and join in a parade of their creations. The sessions cost £4.50 per child, 2 children for £8, or 3 or more for £3.50 each.

The Market Place will host an October Half-Term Fun Fair throughout the holidays. The array of children’s and family attractions will be available to enjoy in the city centre from Friday 20 to Sunday 29 October, from 12 noon until late. Prices for the attractions will be available on site.
