The essence of Derbyshire

Perhaps two of the most successful and highly regarded artists in the region are Rex Preston and Kristan Baggaley. They have very different approaches to painting - different working methods, media, materials, scale and application. They do share common characteristics in their work - both use sketchbooks to record information, each developing a notational visual language to inform their paintings. While the Derbyshire Peak District is a fundamental aspect of their painting, each intently focussed on the sense of place, they are both equally at home painting other rugged landscapes, particularly of Cornwall.

As we commence our 16th year at gallerytop in Rowsley, we're very happy to continue representing the work of these two highly successful artists. We have new work by both painters in our Christmas Collection, which opens on Saturday 23rd. Join us for the festive season from 11.00 with wine and and some uniquely inspired art.
