The Derby Conference Centre introduces celebrity speaker nights
In just a couple of months The Derby Conference Centre will begin to host a series of celebrity speaker nights. The first event to schedule into your calendar will take place on June 7th with ex-professional footballer and manager, Dean Saunders.
Dean Saunders was one of Wales most prolific goal scorers during his international career, he also played for many top clubs in the 1980’s and 1990’s including Derby County, Liverpool and Aston Villa. After retiring from football, he went on to manage various clubs such as the Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chesterfield. But most recently Dean has featured on BBC TV as a pundit. Event attendees can expect to hear a few stories that they may not have seen in the press and with a VIP ticket available to purchase, guests can meet Dean himself, shake his hand and have photo.
The event, which will be hosted by sports commentator and journalist Rob Maltman, will also see a charity game and auction in a bid to raise money for The Derby Conference Centre’s chosen charity of 2019 ‘me & dee’. This event and future celebrity speaker events include dinner and will feature a comedian to close the evening with lots of laughter. For the first event comedian to the stars, Lester Crabtree, will be taking to the stage.
Matthew Hutchings, the Managing Director at The Derby Conference Centre has said: “We can’t wait to welcome Dean Saunders to our centre to kick start the celebrity speaker nights. We’ve been wondering how we can bring something different to the city. Our tribute nights and the launch of DC Comedy Club has been very successful, so it seemed like this was the next best step. It will be amazing to help me & dee raise funds as they’re a great charity.”
It has been confirmed that the next celebrity guest to feature on October 18th is former professional footballer, sports television pundit and reality star, Lee Sharpe. Lee played for Manchester United in his early career and also played for England.
