Derby Comedy Festival is back in 2015 with Jimmy Carr set to headline at the new Derby Arena

Jimmy Carr to headline at Derby Comedy Festival 2015

The headline act for the 2015 Derby Comedy Festival has been announced as stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr, who will perform his hit show, Funny Business, at the new Derby Arena on Friday 10 July, 2015.

Jimmy’s been described as ‘the hardest working man in comedy’. Which, let’s face facts, is not that impressive. It’s like being the ‘Tallest Dwarf’ or the ‘Healthiest Glaswegian’. Really not that big a deal. ‘Funny Business’ is Jimmy’s brand new stand up show. Audiences should come for the witty and incisive musings on the human condition and stay for the rude gags.

The Derby Comedy Festival was launched in 2014 and is produced by Derby City Council’s entertainment arm, Derby LIVE, who will work alongside other arts organisations in the city including: Déda, Derby Theatre, Funhouse Comedy, Furthest From the Sea, QUAD and Sinfonia Viva. This year’s festival will run from Friday 3 – Sunday 12 July, 2015.

The festival will feature many comedy genres including: stand-up, improvisation, children’s comedy, burlesque and theatre and will appeal to a wide range of audiences and take place at a host of venues in the city, including Derby Arena, Bar 1; Déda; Derby Theatre; Guildhall Theatre and QUAD. Jimmy Carr will be a fantastic asset to the full line-up, which is still being finalised. Other confirmed acts include award-winning comedian Vikki Stone and time-travelling magic duo Morgan and West.

Tickets for Jimmy Carr’s Funny Business go on pre-sale to those customers who had booked for Jimmy’s previous gig as part of the 2014 Derby Comedy Festival at 10am on Monday 22 December and then on general sale from 10am on Wednesday 24 December – just in time for those people who need last minute Christmas gifts.

Tickets are priced at £27 and can be purchased through the Derby LIVE Box Office on 01332 255800 or online at www.derbycomedyfestival.co.uk
