Derby College Sports Academies Nurture Young Talent

An information evening for young sports enthusiasts who want to develop their skills whilst studying at Derby College will be held at the Broomfield Hall campus on Thursday February 23 between 4.30pm and 7pm.

Sports Academies are available in golf, cricket, football and basketball – enabling students to develop their performance skills and gain additional coaching work experience and qualifications alongside their full time study programmes.

Information will also be available between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on the wide range of Sport courses available at the College and all the study programmes on offer at Broomfield Hall.

The Performance Golf Academy is for students who regularly play golf and want to develop their sporting performance. The programme includes a dedicated three day a week training calendar and entry into regional and national tournaments.

Members of the Derbyshire County Cricket Academy train at Derbyshire County Cricket Club with coaching and mentoring sessions with ECB coaches and players.

The Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy programme gives aspiring young cricketers and cricket coaches the opportunity to develop their skills while studying academic qualifications in Sport to enhance their career prospects.

Derby Trailblazers Basketball Academy is a partnership between Derby College, Derby Trailblazers and Noel Baker School. Students benefit from the expertise of highly qualified and respected coaches with regular training, matches and competition experience.

The Cycle Derby Academy provides students with expert coaching in track, bmx, cyclo-cross, road, mountain biking and TT, alongside coaching and bike maintenance workshops.
