Our Autumn Edition will soon be here

We hope you have been enjoying our continental summer – the perfect excuse to sit in the shade and read rather than doing anything too strenuous!
The Festival team have been enjoying a quieter period before we gear up again for our Autumn Edition.

Autumn Edition 2022

We are very relieved to say we have now finalised the Autumn Edition programme!

We look forward to welcoming you to QUAD for 12 events from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 November.

The programme will be published and tickets will go on sale for our Autumn Edition on Monday 26 September (priority bookings for Festival Friends from Monday 19 September).  You can pick up a copy of the Festival programme (and Festival bookmarks) from QUAD, Derby Museums, libraries,  Waterstones in Derby and lots of other arts venues from 26 September.

Festival Friends

You can become a Festival Friend at any time of the year (previously it was from 1 January each year).  Your membership lasts for 12 months.  This offers you advance notice of the Festival programme and priority bookings for all events as well as invitations to special events during the year and ticket offers.  You can take out single membership or joint for you and a friend or partner.

Book Sales

We will be running our own book sales again with our experienced team of Retail Volunteers.  We are still working in partnership with Waterstones in Derby and we hope to hold events in their store again in 2023.

In addition to the book sales and signing at each Festival event, we will have a Book Stall selling books (many signed) from previous Festivals – and a Mystery Book stall!  We will also have our popular Book Aid charity Christmas cards.   These will be at QUAD throughout the Autumn Edition weekend.

Book Fair

As part of our Autumn Edition we are planning to hold a Book Fair in the city centre at the Italian Mill, Museum of Making on Sunday 6 November (11am-4pm).

If you are a local author, bookseller or maker of book crafts, this would be an ideal opportunity to showcase your work and encourage visitors to buy some presents before Christmas!

Stall holders can easily drop off items at the entrance to the Italian Mill and there is all day parking for £2.50 at the Assembly Rooms car park just down the road (parking tickets can be validated by the Museum of Making to benefit from this discounted rate).

Stall tables and chairs will be provided for a cost of between £20-£25 dependent on stall size.

If you are interested in taking part, please email us by Monday 22 August:

Volunteers Availability

We will be contacting our volunteers in the next few weeks to establish their availability for the Autumn Edition events.  Do look out for the email asking you to complete Survey Monkey.  Occasionally these emails go into people’s Junk mail folders!

We won’t be recruiting for more volunteers until January 2023 so do look out for this if you are keen to be more involved.

Plans for 2023

We have already begun our planning for 2023 with initial meetings with our partners about venue availability and to discuss potential events.  We have already secured a few authors (very excited about these!) and will be scouring the autumn publishing catalogues for ideas and sending out our invitations.

Please do make sure you have Friday 19 – Saturday 27 May 2023 in your diaries.
