December fun thanks to the National Lottery #ThanksToYou

From 4-9 December 2018, Derby Museums is offering a special Buy-One-Get-One-Free deal on hot drinks to National Lottery players in its Coffee House at Derby Museum & Art Gallery on the Strand.

Derby Museums is one of hundreds of participating National Lottery-funded visitor attractions across the UK saying ‘thanks’ to people who have raised money for good causes by buying a lottery ticket.

The idea is simple: any visitor who presents a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard at the Coffee House from 4-9 December will be able to claim a free hot drink for every hot drink purchased.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has committed £9.4m to Derby Museums to redevelop Derby Silk Mill, the site of the world’s first factory, as the new Museum of Making due to open in 2020. The Heritage Lottery Fund is also supporting Derby Museums’ Endowment Campaign where every £1 fundraised by Derby Museums is being matched funded by HLF up to £1m. The Endowment is an important part of our future sustainability and will help to ensure that our Museums and Derby’s important heritage can continue to be enjoyed by generations to come.

“December is a wonderful time to experience the UK’s rich, diverse and exciting heritage, which has been transformed by more than £7.8bn National Lottery funding since 1994.  This is a small gesture of thanks and a way of giving something back to the people who buy tickets.”

Tony Butler, Executive Director of Derby Museums said:

“Thanks to National Lottery players we are redeveloping the iconic Silk Mill as the new Museum of Making. The Museum of Making will have collections that are accessible and relevant to everyone and we will use them through our activities and exhibitions to inspire all generations, to be the makers, artists and thinkers of the future.”
