Daisy Chute & Hannah Brine release new song Spirit of the Singers
Local singer Hannah Brine has teamed up with folk artist Daisy Chute to release Spirit of the Singers, a homage song to the great folk singers of the late 60s and early 70s.Spirit of the Singers is released on Friday April 7th and is taken from Daisy’s EP Maiden, Mother, Crone.

Hannah, who lives in New Mills and, who founded High Peak Singers community choir says:

“Daisy and I met on a songwriters retreat last year and this song was born then. We have very similar influences and family background, and we were talking about the music books on top of our parents pianos growing up, and found we had a lot in common. I love this song. I’ve been performing it on gigs and it goes down really well. It was a real pleasure to sing on Daisy’s live recording, which we recorded at the Grand Chapel Studios, back in January.”

Daisy explains:
“Spirit of the Singers references female artists we grew up listening to and from which we found inspiration – artists like Buffy Sainte-Marie, Joni Mitchell, Carole King and many more – sadly we couldnt fit all of them in! Its about how their music and voices echo through the next generations of singer-songwriters, paving the way for all of us. Its about standing on the shoulders of these greats and trying to continue their legacy and hopefully inspiring the next generation too.”
