The Eisenach Ensemble perform vocal and instrumental repertoire for two sopranos and instrumental ensemble of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. We have a gorgeous programme including soprano duets by Purcell, Monteverdi, Handel and Bach.

“The last concert of the East Anglian Academy’s 2014 series was received with huge enjoyment by a large audience, unsurprisingly after a favourable mention on Radio 3 that very morning. The fuller continuo group created a lavish texture in two motets by Charpentier, lending depth and atmosphere to the exquisite singing of Cate McKee and Angela Hicks, who also blended beautifully when singing as a duo: their ensemble seemed effortlessly perfect throughout.”

This is our very first visit to Buxton Fringe, and we are delighted that Angie is still able to join us for this lovely programme despite her whirlwind professional life. Angela enjoys exploring the rich renaissance reperatory of lute songs, and most recently has performed with Emma Kirkby as part of her project 'Dowland Works'. As a choral singer, Angela is a member of a number of leading UK ensembles including The Monteverdi Choir under John Eliot Gardner, which she joined initially as an apprentice, and with whom she now sings regularly, both as a soloist and as part of the choir. She is also a member of Ex Cathedra and the choir of The Chapels Royal, HM Tower of London.

The Eisenach Ensemble are an established group based in North Buckinghamshire who have appeared at venues such as St John's Smith Square, the East Anglian Academy and the Tilford Bach Society. Find links to live concert recordings from our website: https://eisenachensemble.wordpress.com/
