The Buxton Flowerpot Trail returns for 2023

The Buxton Flowerpot Trail returns for 2023 thanks to the continued support of some of our local Derbyshire County Council and High Peak Borough Council councillors. This year, this family favourite arts trail will run during July and August and simply aims to bring a smile. As ever, all in Buxton and surrounding villages are welcome and encouraged to get involved- households, businesses, schools and community groups- to make a flowerpot creation for the trail. They can be displayed in gardens, on gateposts, door steps or in windows, anywhere so long as they are visible from the pavement. The theme is Gilbert &Sullivan, to celebrate the return of the full international festival to town- so get thinking pirates, fairies and modern major generals! However, as ever, you don't need to align with the theme - you're welcome to come up with anything you like. Making instructions and videos are available on the Funny Wonders' website www.funnywonders.org.uk, the community arts group which coordinates the trail, as is an overview of the G&S operas, to help with ideas, and details of the festival's flowerpot competitions. Free pots can be picked up at their stalls at the Buxton Spring Fair on Monday 1 May, Buxton Market on Saturday 13 May, an outdoor workshop at The Green Man Gallery on the afternoon of Saturday 27th May 2pm-4pm, or at the Rotary's Summer Fair in the Pavillon Gardens on Saturday 3rd June. The deadline to register a location for the trail is Sunday 25th of June - email hello@funnywonders.org.uK
