THE BELPER GAMES UPS THE ANTI!
The Fifth Annual Belper Games lands on 15th July at Belper Rugby Club, rounding off a fantastic year for the town.
One of Belper’s best loved events is set to be bigger and better than ever this coming July. Now in it’s fifth year, The Belper Games will be running over the course of 3 days from 15th - 17th July, with on site camping available and plenty to keep everyone entertained.
After taking the winter to recover from the phenomenal success of 2015 where the team raised over £22,500 for 4 charities, they are now back with the same drive, passion and humour that has seen the Games grow year-on-year to become a stalwart of the Belper (possibly Derbyshire!) summer time.
Friday night takes a leaf from some of the big festivals, kicking off the weekend with a real ale and cider festival alongside an outdoor showing of a classic movie, perfect for a picnic in the summer evening and “gratis on the gate”. Advanced entry wristbands for the Saturday’s event will be available on the Friday night so you can beat the queues for the big day.
Saturday is the main attraction, hundreds of people will dress up as teletubbies, get covered in foam, mud and bodily fluids, sustain many mean looking bruises and make complete fools of themselves all in the name of charity. It’s testament to the hard work behind the scenes that the team slots for this year were full almost before the 2015 games had closed! Those who don’t want to take part in the wrestling, running and general mayhem in the main arena can take advantage of everything else that will be laid on, the hot food quarter, two bars, kids rides, street market, the Showground, Gillies Leap Fun Dog Shows, the live music that will be happening all day and THEN as if that's not enough you can go straight through to the Aftershow Party where there will be a smorgasbord of excellent bands to keep you dancing (or stumbling around) until midnight.
You'll need plenty of stamina because the event will continue on Sunday with an all-day music festival with two stages featuring some incredible live acts including two absolute legends – listen out for more news on that! Plus all the usual food, bar, kids rides etc. and to top it off a whole new Total Wipeout style field for kids and big kids alike.
