Artists Talk - REMOTE and forthcoming creative workshops

Dear friend of The Old Lock Up Gallery,
REMOTE - Our current exhibition opened at the weekend, the opening event was well attended and may thanks to those of you who made it along to the show.

The exhibition now continues until 16th Dec and we are open Friday - Monday 11am - 5pm.
A selection of the work will shortly be catalogued online via the gallery website - so as viewing and sales of work can also be completed online if needed.
The show is one of our largest shows so far and includes 29 pieces of work ranging in both size and price - the sculptural pieces fit beautifully and with seamless symmetry alongside the peaceful and subtle paintings/collages within the show.

Steve Gresham will be holding an artists talk at the gallery on Saturday 24th November from 7pm - 8.30pm - the talks make for a really enjoyable social evening where you can listen to the artist discuss their work whilst viewing the show itself - all within a intimate gallery space. The talk will be followed by a light winter supper of homemade soup, desert and wine. Tickets are genuinely limited, to book simply reply to this newsletter.

'I regard the opportunity for solitary wandering, to become remote in remote surroundings, as essential to my wellbeing. These wanderings feed my interest in the relationship between person and place, and how this relationship can become predicated upon memory and association as much as upon ‘real time’ experience; the memory of a place, the associations with it and the place itself becoming quite separate entities in their own right, each generating their own sense of ownership. Wandering repeatedly in remote but familiar territories suggests a sense of obsession, but as people and places are in a constant state of flux each ‘visiting’ is unique and transitory and by definition cannot be repeated.
- Steve Gresham 2018

I also wanted to mention that his year I've launched 'OPENCALL' - an opportunity for any interested fine contemporary artists to apply for a solo exhibition at the gallery - I shall be running this opportunity on a yearly basis - please visit the website for further information on how to apply:
