MEMBER: Wash Arts CIC
“Wash Arts engages with the arts as a means of reaching and responding to the needs of the diverse and often very disadvantaged communities in the borough of Erewash.”
Background:
Wash Arts CIC is a not-for-profit community-led arts organisation, based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. It has been in existence since 2006 and was created in order to address a gap in creative and cultural opportunities available to people living in the borough of Erewash. The organisation was established as a CIC limited by guarantee, for the benefit specifically of residents of Erewash and surrounding areas. We have a commitment to reinvest any surplus funds in future community projects. Wash Arts' projects utilise the unique ability of participatory arts to uncover potential, increase aspirations, build local pride and community cohesion, develop skills and enrich the lives of participants and audience members.
The organisation engages people who have limited access to creative and cultural experiences for whatever reason. We also aim to target those who might gain the most benefit from involvement in our work. We achieve this through a range of high- quality projects developed in direct consultation and collaboration with local residents and voluntary and statutory bodies.
