Macbeth

Theatre
Returning with Shakespeare’s compelling classic tragedy of ambition, bloody chaos, witchcraft and ghosts. In this dark, psychological thriller the breakdown of natural order is heightened by an all-female cast.

Set in a post-apocolyptic reality, audiences will find themselves in the centre of this story. Creative in its simplicity which allows for an intimate experience. With a small cast of just six actresses, the audience is assumed part of the action – from the attack of the senses during the opening battle to dining at a masked banquet for the Kings’ chosen few.

Traditionally one of Shakespeare’s more masculine plays, our female cast do not hide their femininity - revealing and challenging assumptions about what it means to be female and feminine strength. This production is ideal for Shakespeare fans or those who want to see outstanding theatre featuring an incredibly talented professional cast.

Something Wicked Theatre Company was born out of the season of lockdown calling Glossop, Derbyshire its home. Since forming at the end of 2021 it has been establishing its reputation as a company bringing dynamic, thought-provoking theatre to fringe venues across the UK. This production was previously staged back in 2019 in collaboration with Tread the Boards Theatre Company and enjoyed a highly successful run in Stratford-Upon-Avon and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Catherine Pugh, Creative Director and founding member, ‘cut her teeth’ in performance at Partington Players Theatre therefore it is an honor to be sharing her love of theatre with the local community.
