Shocked to learn that her husband is leaving after 21 years of marriage, literary critic Wendy (Patricia Clarkson) decides she needs to learn to drive. Enter driving instructor Darwan (Ben Kingsley), and soon the two strike up a friendship that transcends cultural differences. Clarkson’s measured performance is a joy to behold, and touching scenes with Kingsley provide most of the humour. Director Isabel Coixet deftly by-passes obvious clichés to deliver a charming and genuinely funny study of middle-aged angst. Running time 88 minutes
