The sixth Belper Arts Festival exploded into life over the Bank Holiday weekend with a
stunning sellout concert, an expanded Arts Trail and the first Andy Potter Community Awards.
The Festival opened with a sellout concert at St. Peter's Church featuring soprano Margaret Keys

Derby College A Level Students Triumph In Olympiad Competitions

A level students at Derby College’s Joseph Wright sixth form centre have won a clutch of awards in the British Olympiad competitions for Maths and Sciences.

Thirteen students have been presented with awards for Maths, Chemistry or Biology having completed papers in the subjects set by national bodies.  They completed the timed exams at the College which were then marked and submitted for verification.

Dance Fantastic at St Peters Quarter Live

Visitors to St Peters Quarter on Saturday May 12 will be treated to a day of free live entertainment at the Spot between 11am and 3pm.

St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) has secured a £10,000 grant from National Lottery Awards for All – Big Lottery Fund to stage eight SPQ Live street entertainment days during the year, also supported by Derby City Council.

The first was held mid April which provided a day of music for all to enjoy at the Spot, St Peters Quarter.

Shoppers’ views at the heart of great quality and customer service at Croots Farm Shop

Shoppers at Croots Farm Shop and Café in Derbyshire are helping to shape the business’s future and its commitment to quality and great customer service.

The shop and café, which first opened in June 2008, asked randomly-selected customers what they liked about Croots and where improvements could be made.

In the shop, the butchery counter emerged as a firm favourite with its commitment to locally sourced meat – scoring ten out of ten. While the café’s full English breakfasts and cakes were overwhelmingly singled out as a reason to visit.

Medal Haul Continues for Derby College Student

Derby College Sports student Justin Taylor-Tipton (17) from West Hallam recently returned from Switzerland with a clutch more medals in Freestyle Skiing.

Justin, a former pupil at Kirk Hallam Community Academy, is studying Sports Coaching at the College’s Broomfield Hall campus and spends the winter season training in Switzerland.
