International opera singer to star at Buxton concert

An internationally famous opera singer, who has been associated with Buxton Opera House for nearly 40 years, is looking forward to singing there again in January when she will be performing as a soloist with the Kinder Adult Chorus .

Yvonne Howard, who has performed in operas all over the world, first sang at Buxton in 1979 at a concert to promote the Buxton Opera Festival, which was the anchor event behind the regeneration and relaunch of the Opera House in that same year.

Buxton Fringe announces art contest winner!

Buxton Festival Fringe has announced the winner of its recent competition to design the cover of next year’s printed Fringe programme.

Catherine Webb, a part-time teaching assistant at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School and formerly a graphic designer at The University of Manchester, says she was “thrilled and tickled pink and everything in between” to be awarded the £100 prize for her winning artwork, an eye-catching design entitled Roar Talent, celebrating 40 years of the Fringe.

New country wedding reception venue unveiled at Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire

Popular award-winning Derbyshire farm shop Croots has expanded its services to offer a picturesque wedding reception venue at its countryside site just outside Duffield.

The farm shop has teamed up with events specialist and tipi hire company Tipi and Kata to host regular wedding receptions.

December Fun at Déda Thanks to The National Lottery #ThanksToYou

From 3-8 December 2018 Déda is offering a free Goody Bag to the first 50 visitors to the Derby Dancing exhibition at the venue in Chapel Street.

Déda is one of hundreds of participating National Lottery-funded visitor attractions across the UK saying ‘thanks’ to people who have raised money for good causes by buying a lottery ticket.

The organisation received £10,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to support the Derby Dancing project and exhibition which is open to visitors until December 22.

Derby College Joins Prestigious Microsoft Programme

Derby College has been chosen by IT giants Microsoft as one of the first globally to become a Showcase College.

This is a new global education programme launched by Microsoft and is an extension to the company’s global network of institutions using technology to improve teaching and learning.
