Artist Opportunity

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for two artists to work in residence with Ashgate Hospicecare.

Beginning in January 2020 the paid residencies will also include valuable training and support about working in the specialist palliative care setting.

Employers Broaden Student Horizons

Representatives from a wide range of local companies met with new Professional Construction students at Derby College Group (DCG) to outline the different career paths available to them in the future.

Students had the opportunity to talk to employers, former students and get advice on developing their CVs.

Ilkeston Jobs Fair

Derby College Group (DCG) has teamed up with Job Centre Plus to organise a jobs fair at Ilkeston Community College on Tuesday October 29 between 10am and 2pm.

Information will be available about hundreds of job opportunities in a wide range of industries from Engineering and Manufacturing to Travel and Care.

Coast To Coast Cyclists Support Viva’s Work in Local Communities

A group of cycling enthusiasts have completed a coast to coast challenge and raised £500 for Derby-based Sinfonia Viva orchestra’s ‘Make a Child Smile’ appeal.

Carl Muldal, who works at Rolls-Royce plc and is a board member of Sinfonia Viva, brought together a group of friends to cycle 140 miles west to east across the country in a weekend.

The money raised will go towards further expanding the orchestra’s work including a three-year creative project which has been established thanks to grant funding from BBC Children in Need. 

Sponsorship Secured For Growing Club

Construction plant and vehicle specialists Leedale, which is based in Alfreton, have pledged support for young footballers at Hatton United Junior FC.

Despite being founded just five years ago, Hatton United is already one of the largest grassroots junior football clubs in the Derbyshire and Burton league with 17 boys and girls teams across all age groups.

Street Art Success for DCG Students

Visitors to Melbourne Arts Festival in South Derbyshire were treated to a series of street art installations created by students at Derby College Group (DCG).

The level three Art and Design students, who are based at the Joseph Wright Post 16 Academic and Arts College, made colourful and thought-provoking work for the art and architecture trail.

Capita Travel and Events Employer Academy Opens Doors For DCG Students

A partnership programme between Derby College Group (DCG) and a leading business travel and events company has so far led to nine Travel and Tourism students securing full time jobs there.

Capita Travel and Events, whose head office is in Derby, has worked with DCG for the past four years under the college’s innovative Employer Academy programme to better prepare students for the world of work.
