Derbyshire children's author's fifth title

SUE WILKINS, a Derbyshire author of four delightfully illustrated children’s story books, and total sales of 12,500 books, has just released her fifth title.  “Owl to the Rescue” will be available soon at various outlets, including several National Trust properties across the east Midlands region.

Event Highlights Importance of English and Maths in the Workplace

Fourteen businesses and organisations joined an event organised by Derby College Group to reiterate to students the importance of English and maths in the workplace.

Employers from a range of industry sectors including IT, Construction, Rail, Retail and Health and Social Care organised practical activities to highlight how staff use English and maths in their jobs.

Literary Prize For DCG Student

Derby College Group IT student Karan Pabla (20) will soon have his name immortalised in print by a top author after taking part in a national challenge designed to encourage young people to enjoy reading.

Karan, who studies at the Joseph Wright post-16 Academic and Arts college, was amongst thousands of young people and adults across the UK who joined the Reading Ahead challenge to read, rate and review a book of their choice.

First Autumn Edition for Derby Book Festival this weekend

The first Autumn Edition of Derby Book Festival begins this Friday and includes ten author events between Friday 25th to Sunday 27th October.   The Festival includes a range of the most popular genres: politics, thrillers and biography.

One event is already sold out: the Closing Event with Raynor Winn talking about her Costa Prize nominated memoir, The Salt Path on Sunday 27 October.

Bondholder business owners and key stakeholders from across the city are throwing their support behind plans for the regeneration of Becketwell.

An outline planning application has been submitted by Leeds-based developer St James Securities, comments on the scheme are being accepted and businesses are backing the plans.
