The Applications for the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) Scholarships and Apprenticeships are now open

If you are a talented or aspiring craftsperson you can now apply for @QESTcraft funding of up to £18,000.  QEST has funded craftspeople across more than 150 craft disciplines ranging from millinery to thatching, arms & armour restoration to ice sculpture and basket-weaving to musical instrument making. QEST supports the training and education of talented or aspiring craftspeople and we are looking to share the news of this opportunity as widely as possible.  

Engineering firm JMS plans to build a reputation as Derby’s best employer

Derbyshire High Sheriff Visits Broomfield Hall

Lord Burlington, Derbyshire’s High Sheriff and Chancellor of the University of Derby, has visited Derby College Group’s Broomfield Hall Land-based and Leisure college in Morley to meet students benefiting from higher education programmes.

Joseph Wright Centre Celebrates Student Achievements

The achievements of students at Derby College Group’s Joseph Wright Centre have been officially recognised at a celebration evening.

Students who have either graduated from or are continuing their studies for A levels, Creative or Digital programmes at JWC were presented with subject prizes at the annual event.

Geology Students Join Volcano Study Field Trip

A level Geology students from Derby College Group’s Joseph Wright Centre have spent a week in studying dormant volcanoes in Tenerife as part of their study programme.

Field tasks included measuring the fall of rocks through a ravine, examining rock faces to determine the history of eruptions over time and looking at the tracts left by major landslides that caused Tsunamis thousands of miles away.

Expanded Recycling Programme Supports Butterfly Appeal

A mobile phones recycling initiative to support a Derby charity has been expanded thanks to intu Derby.

Anyone with an unwanted mobile phone can now drop them off at the Customer Service [CS1] desk at intu Derby.

They will be collected regularly by Sinfin-based Century Mobile who will arrange recycling and all money collected will be donated to child sexual exploitation (CSE) specialist charity Safe and Sound.
