Two local apprentices will represent their employers and Derby College Group (DCG) in a new national competition for trainee hairdressers and barbers next week.
Sally Heyes (19) from Ockbrook and Sam Winson (20) from Allestree will compete in the regional heat of the competition, organised by Concept hair magazine, which will be held at Stephenson College in Coalville on Monday February 10.
Public Services students based at DCG’s Broomfield Hall college in Morley recently prepared and served lunch for around 80 people at the YMCA in Derby.
The event was part of the YMCA’s monthly meal initiative to bring together local residents, homeless people, businesses and other charities.
Derby College Group (DCG) is strengthening its links with award-winning residential care provider Milford Care – with the launch of more apprenticeships at the group’s homes in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
DCG is already working with 30 staff at four of Milford Care’s six homes and over the next few months, a further 15 to 20 apprenticeships will be rolled out.
