Apprenticeship Roadshow Inspires Next Generation

A roadshow organised by Derby College Group (DCG) has toured several local schools to raise awareness about apprenticeship opportunities available to young people.

The apprenticeship team visiting schools such as Murray Park in Mickleover, Merrill Academy in Alvaston and St John Houghton in Ilkeston to highlight the wide range of skills training and careers available.

JWC Students Boost Industry Skills

Creative and Digital Multi-Media Academy students at Derby College Group’s Joseph Wright Centre have worked with a wide range of industry specialists to further the skills they will require for university and future careers.

The first-ever Industry Week involved students, specialist teachers and professionals across a wide range of disciplines – sharing skills and highlighting career opportunities.

Sugar rush for doughnuts sees Project D expand to feed demand

Derby’s growing taste for delicious doughnuts is helping a city company expand across the region after its tasty treats were enjoyed by Love Island contestants, fashionistas and even members of the Royal family.

Project D, whose bright pink flagship outlet is based in the Intu Centre, says they have sold more of their handcrafted doughnuts than they could ever have imagined in the first 12 months of trading - serving an incredible 100 doughnuts every hour in December.

ART RETROSPECTIVE OF LOCAL ARTIST

As well as showing photographs of over 40 x pieces, I have also created an installation specifically for the show which includes 50 x original bobbins from Belper Mill Museum adorned with growing cress and significant fabrics that I have saved throughout my life.  The exhibition then will stay up till 8th March.

'Calendar of the Sussex Wild' - part of the 'Love Letters' exhibition...

On Saturday 8 February we open our new exhibition 'Love Letters'. The show has been curated by the Wirksworth artist Bernie Rutter and we're looking forward to showing work by artists new to the gallery. One of these artists is Brighton based Jo Sweeting, who is a sculptor and printmaker. We will be exhibiting Jo's large woodblock prints called 'Calendar of the Sussex Wild' as well as some of her smaller sculptural work.

The Spring show is taking place on 12th March at the Derby Conference Centre and bookings for exhibitors and delegates are now live on the event site.

The event is one of the areas largest BtoB exhibitions for the private sector and will now feature a great line-up of over 40 exhibitors and 8 different Seminars/workshops that are free to attend as a delegate
