Lonsdale Plans To Re-Open City Pools

The charitable trust which manages two swimming pools in the city is gearing up to re-open both facilities in early September.

Lonsdale Swimming & Sports Trust manages Gayton Pool in Littleover on behalf of Derby City Council and also runs Lonsdale Pool in Mickleover, which it is currently hoping to replace with a new facility nearby.

Both have remained closed to finalise Covid-safe procedures and plan to re-open in early September.

Derby Well Invites Local People To Get Creative For Launch Weekend

Local people are being invited to submit their creative ideas for the first part of Derby Well which will launch on the last weekend of September.

Derby Well is a new campaign to support and promote cultural and arts activities in and around Derby city centre and will launch with Derby Well Re-Dressed on Friday 25, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27.

Two-Wheeled Fundraisers Support Safe and Sound

A partner with leading Midlands accountancy firm Dains has raised more than £1,000 for specialist Derbyshire charity Safe and Sound after completing a gruelling 100-mile cycle ride.

John Southwell had originally entered the My Prudential RideLondon event to raise cash for Safe and Sound which supports local young people who are victims of or at risk of child exploitation, as well as their families, and is one of Dains’ chosen charities.

MonsterHero Safari Trail Launches In St Peters Quarter

St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) is launching an innovative MonsterHero Safari Trail as part of the BID's fundraising campaign for the Royal Derby Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

MonsterHero Safari is a high street story-trail experience where families are tasked with hunting down the monster superheroes, displayed in public windows.

Entrepreneurial Business Chooses Safe and Sound For Seasonal Support

Colleague Box – a new business launched by an entrepreneurial Derby couple during lockdown – have chosen Safe and Sound as its charity partner for their next personalised gifts campaign.

Adam and Natalie Bamford launched Colleague Box, a letterbox gift company, as the coronavirus pandemic was at its peak. 

They have since been inundated with orders from companies wanting to cheer up remote worker and then welcome furloughed staff back to the workplace with tasty treats and personal messages delivered through the post.

Belper North Mill: Conservation and Planning

The Planning Application for the Belper Mills complex submitted in May 2018 to Amber Valley Borough Council by the site’s owner GHL Property Management and Development Ltd through their agent FI Real Estate Management Ltd remains incomplete, awaiting the submission of condition surveys for the buildings and water courses.
