Sales soar at Nightingale Quarter

Bondholder Wavensmere Homes has announced a peak of sales for phase one of its Nightingale Quarter scheme in Derby city centre, with only six properties remaining from the initial 125 two- and three-bedroom homes available.

Subcontractors returned to the site in August and, with brickwork being laid, properties are starting to take shape.

City confidence grows

The high street in Derby is returning to pre-pandemic activity levels more rapidly than other cities in the Midlands region according to a national report.

New research by leading think tank, the Centre for Cities, showing average footfall levels in city centres for the last full week of August, indicate an overall recovery index of 93% for Derby. This compares with 59% in Nottingham and 52% in Birmingham. At the same time, offline sales in Derby city centre have also risen to 85% of their pre-lockdown figure.

New plans for Derby Market Place

Since opening its doors on 24th July, more than 6,000 people have enjoyed the vibrant al fresco dining experience of Derby Market Place, created by Bondholders Derby City Council, Derby LIVE and Katapult, with Visit Derby, as part of the work of the Derby Economic Recovery Task Force to help boost footfall and help hospitality businesses hit by the Coronavirus pandem

Prepare for Test and Trace in Derby

Businesses in Derby and Derbyshire are being urged to prepare themselves for the national launch of the NHS COVID-19 app this Thursday 24th September. Companies can download relevant resources here today.

The app will be a critical enhancement - and for many a legal requirement - of NHS Test and Trace, providing users with local risk information and alerting them if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive.

Artist Call Out

The Art of Remembering 2020 - An exhibition of children’s art work and the positives to come from 2020 lockdown.

Erewash Borough Council wishes to invite expressions of interest from a professional creative to develop and support instalment of a temporary exhibition for the Erewash community at Erewash Museum in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Timetable – this is a time critical commission and requires community engagement (reach) and exhibition instalment by w/c 14th December

Arts Derbyshire - A Necklace of Stars

Following on from the success of the first phase of A Necklace of Stars, we are looking for older adults who are housebound (aged 65+) from across Derbyshire to join us in a creative writing and embroidery project.

Arts Derbyshire is running a remote embroidery and creative writing project where participants receive weekly* one to one phone calls with artists ‘arthur + martha’. The artists will guide people through the process of creating beautiful embroidered stars or creative writing themed around lullabies, for free.

New Dates Announced For Two Autumn Shows

Due to the continuing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on indoor live performances, Derby LIVE have now announced that two shows, The Lady Boys of Bangkok and Elvis Tribute Artist World Tour will not be going ahead as planned this autumn. Instead, both shows have been postponed by their promoters to 2021.
