20th anniversary of Air Traffic Control

Bondholder East Midlands Airport's Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower celebrates 20 years in operation with £130k investment to upgrade its radar room.

EMA has control of airspace up to 105,000 feet above ground level and covering an area of 150 sq miles. On average 320 aircraft movements pass through this space each day.

Derby Book Festival programme launch at Derby Reads

The programme for the fifth Derby Book Festival is revealed tonight (Wednesday 10 April) at Derby Reads, a special event to be held in QUAD, Derby when the Festival programme is published.  The Festival, which will be held from 31 May - 8 June, will include over 90 events and activities in venues across the city.  Derby Reads will feature readings from books to be featured at this year’s Festival. 

Team Viking at Spital Arts on Saturday May 11th

Our next exciting Spital Arts event, in conjunction with Live & Local will be 'Team Viking'  by James Rowland, presented by Tangram Theatre Company on Saturday May 11th.

Five Years ago, James's best friend Tom was diagnosed with Heart cancer and given three months to live. His last wish was to be given a full viking burial.

This is the remarkable story of how James actually gave his best mate the send-off he wanted. Featuring live music, razor-sharp comedy and a heart swelling story of death, friendship and viking helmets.

Where the Power Lies; A One-Day Symposium at LEVEL

LEVEL, in collaboration with East Midlands Participatory Arts Forum (EMPAF) present a one-day symposium of discussion, experiences and debate. Join us on the 11 April 2019 to ask the question WHERE THE POWER LIES?

Outdoor Theatre and Cinema Season returns for 2019

The ever-popular Outdoor Theatre and Cinema season will return to Markeaton Park Craft Village this June, July and August. Derby LIVE and Derby Parks will be bringing audiences thrilling shows from Oddsocks Productions, The Lost Boys and Babbling Vagabonds, as well as showings of award-winning films, all in the beautiful surroundings of Markeaton Park.
