Lantern Procession Tickets On Sale Sat 8th June!

New Mills Festival is very pleased to announce details for the Lantern Procession Finale Saturday 28th September 2019!
The spectacle returns this year as a TICKETED EVENT with a suggested minimum donation of £1 per person. The introduction of tickets, and timed entry, will go some way to help fund the event and ensure the experience is a positive one for the large number of people taking part.

The Knife Angel is coming

Derby has been chosen to be one of the cities across the country to host the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression - the 'Knife Angel'.

The spectacular 27ft sculpture, made from up to 100,000 bladed weapons collected in knife banks during police amnesties across the country, will be based next to Bondholder Derby Cathedral for 28 days in October.

DCG Secures Further Funding To Boost Technical Skills

Derby College Group (DCG) has been chosen as one of 54 colleges and training providers to recruit and train new FE teachers and improve links with industry in key technical areas.

DCG will be among the first colleges to offer T Levels from September 2020 in the areas of childcare and education, digital, engineering and construction.

Sinfonia Viva Flying High With New Board Chair

Former airline boss Tony Davis has been appointed Board Chair of Sinfonia Viva – the Grammy-nominated East Midlands’ professional orchestra - to drive forward its ambitious growth plans.

Mr Davis first became involved with Sinfonia Viva almost 15 years ago when he was managing director of bmibaby. The Castle Donington-based airline supported Viva’s tour of Ireland in 2005 including a performance in Cork as part of the official European Capital of Culture programme.

Wet weather scuppers Broomfield Hall Open day June 16

An open day at Broomfield Hall in Morley on Sunday June 16 has been cancelled due to the weather.  Fields that were due to be used for visitor parking are waterlogged and a decision has been made to cancel now to provide enough notice to the public.
