Reserve your tickets for the Chesterfield Area Walking Festival 2023

The popular Chesterfield Area Walking Festival is returning for another year, with residents and visitors being encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy what the area has to offer.

The annual festival takes place from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 May 2023 and it includes gentle strolls, family walks and big days out for seasoned hikers. Tickets for the festival will be available to book from Monday 13 February.

Feb deadline looms for Fringe entrants!

Fringe performers and exhibitors are being urged to enter this summer’s Buxton’s Fringe as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the specially discounted £55 entry fee available until February 28th.

It is an exciting time to work for Live & Local as the company continues to be retained in Arts Council England’s National Portfolio (2023-26), delivering both existing and new and innovative strands of work whilst continuing to serve a range of partners, communities and stakeholders.

The Community Engagement Officer is one of a team of three similar roles and sits within our Engagement Department.

Taking action to support mental health

Students at the Derby College Group have been busy raising awareness of mental health issues - while at the same time raising money to support a number of mental health charities.

Over the past few months students across the College have been involved in a number of social action projects that have raised over £800 for charities such as Mind and Man-Up.

Royal Approval For Innovative Derby Company

A Derby-based social enterprise company, which is run by disabled people for disabled people, has been formally presented with The Queen’s Award for Enterprise by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire Mrs Elizabeth Fothergill CBE and Deputy Lord-Lieutenant Tony Walker CBE.

Nimbus Disability, based in Pride Park, has been recognised in The Queen’s Award Innovation category for the development of its Access Card scheme.

The Access Card is held by more than 100,000 people in the UK and beyond who register their accessibility requirements.

With half-term fast approaching there are lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy in Chesterfield.

Activities include a Traditional Games Day hosted by Chesterfield Museum, nest box making in local parks, special screenings and performances at the Winding Wheel Theatre and the return of the Holiday Club to Queen’s Park Sports Centre.

Locals enable world-class Hogarth exhibition to come to Derby this March

Thanks to an extraordinary effort by the people of Derby, many famous paintings will come to the city for the first time

A world-class exhibition by 18th Century artist William Hogarth will open at Derby Museum and Art Gallery this March, thanks to the people of Derby who raised an amazing £20,000  last autumn. 

It will be the first time Derby Museums has put together an exhibition of this scale and ambition, which aims to provide a cultural boost to a city already steeped in heritage.
