Wathall’s Supports Young Footballers’ Return To The Pitch

Family-owned Wathall’s funeral directors, which has branches in Ashbourne, Derby, Alvaston, Borrowash and Burton, has helped a youth football team return to competitive
sports by sponsoring their new kit.

Albert Village Junior Football Club’s under-12’s Harriers team plays in the Burton Junior Football League is now sporting the new kit at matches based at local sports grounds.

Team manager James Carrington-Porter said:“The team has been itching to get back into competitive sport and love their new kit. “Football is a really inclusive sport and, as a club, we always strive to keep costs down for families so that there no barriers to boys and girls taking part. We are therefore very grateful to Wathall’s for supporting the team.”

Wathall’s managing director Helen Wathall MBE, who is the fifth generation of her family to run the company, said: “The company has always strived to make a positive contribution to
the local communities that we serve in a number of ways and that includes supporting sports clubs who play such an important part in the health and wellbeing of young people and their families.

“Staff at our Burton branch advocated for sponsorship of Albert Village Junior FC because of their ethos to ensuring young players enjoy football in the true spirit of the game,
sportsmanship and skills development. “Furthermore, many young people of all ages have faced enormous stress and anxiety during the pandemic and need the outlet of team sports now more than ever. I am therefore delighted that they like the kit and wish the team every success in this is future seasons.”
