Wathall’s Raises Funds for Macmillan Cancer Support
Staff at local independent funeral directors Wathall’s have raised £211 for Macmillan Cancer Support after joining the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning at its Macklin Street head office.
Wathall’s staff, family and friends prepared hand-made baked goods for the event and then invited the public and members of the company’s Derby Dandelions bereavement support group to join in the event.
Managing Director Helen Wathall explained: “Since ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ started on television, there has definitely been a resurgence of cake and bread making amongst the team here and everyone was keen to join in this annual event again this year.
“Cancer touches all our lives in one way or another and, as funeral directors, we come into contact with families who have lost a loved one through this cruel disease practically every day.
“The practical and emotional support that Macmillan provide to sufferers and their families is fantastic and we obviously wanted to join this initiative to support their work.”
