Tickets go on sale for Derby Book Festival
Tickets have gone on sale for the autumn edition of the Derby Book Festival which is being headlined by TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star Dan Walker.
The city’s popular literary event will run from November 4th to 6th and names including Sunday Times bestseller Raynor Winn have already been announced.
Tickets can be booked for individual events and this year a Festival Pass is available providing access to multiple events.
Local favourite, crime writer Stephen Booth, whose 18 Cooper & Fry novels are set in the Peak District, will be discussing his career as a crime writer.
While maritime archaeologist Mensun Bound, who led two expeditions to find Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship Endurance in the waters of the Antarctic, will also appear.
Oxford and BBC historian Dr Janina Ramirez will be discussing her book Femina: A New History of the Middle Ages, By the Women Who Were Written Out of It.
And TV and radio journalist Nick Wallis will talk about his book The Great Post Office Scandal, a subject he has investigated for 14 years, presenting two BBC Panorama specials about it.
The festival is organised in partnership with all the major arts and cultural partners in the city with funding from the Arts Council England, the University of Derby and several businesses and individuals across the city.
Festival chair Liz Fothergill said: “We are delighted to announce that tickets are on sale now and hope that audiences will join us at our wonderful venue, QUAD.
“As usual we have an eclectic mixture of authors and genres and we think there is something for everyone. We really hope that the festival will provide an opportunity for people to come together to share their love of reading and discover new authors and books.”
The Festival will have book sales and author signings at all events plus a Book Stall selling books from previous Festivals as well as a selection of children’s books, a selection of Book Aid Charity Christmas cards and a Mystery Book selection.
There will also be a Book Fair at the Museum of Making on November 6, from 11am – 4pm, with a range of stalls including booksellers, book crafts, children’s books and local authors.
