Ticket to Hope FAMILY WORKSHEET

YOUR IDEAS WANTED PLEASE! SPEND TEN MINUTES HAVING FUN AND CONTRIBUTE TO A FABULOUS POEM!

The wonderful poet Helen Mort (former Derbyshire Poet Laureate) is writing a community poem called Ticket to Hope. She is looking for people who live, work or study in Derbyshire, of all ages, to contribute, and is looking for lots of ideas to weave into and to inspire the poem. Derbyshire is a county with hope in it, and that’s quite literal – with the beautiful Hope Valley and
the train towards Edale and the Dark Peak, where passengers ask for a ‘ticket to Hope’.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A POET! YOU CAN BE ANY AGE! WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO VIDEO, EMAIL OR TWEET YOUR IDEAS TO HELEN.

A few ideas to get you going:

Tell Helen about a moment when you suddenly felt more cheerful or hopeful.

Maybe it is when you received some news about something that is going to
happen, or you are going to do, or about somebody that is close to you. It
might well be just 1 or 2 sentences.
Tell Helen something that could happen that would make you feel hopeful. It
might be something for yourself or for a relative or friend.
Is there a particular animal that gives you hope? Let Helen know.
Is there a particular food that gives you hope? Let Helen know.
Is there a particular memory from your past that gives you hope? Let Helen know.
If you could sum up the feeling of hope in one sentence, what would you say?
