Recruitment Partnership Service Launched

Derby College has joined forces with a leading recruitment consultancy to provide a holistic service to local employers and additional support for young people looking for their first step into the jobs market.

Sky Recruitment Solutions, based at Riverside Chambers in the Cathedral Quarter, will be working closely with the College’s Roundhouse Recruitment and apprenticeship teams. Firstly, through contacts from both organisations, current College learners will have more opportunities for part time and seasonal work to support them during their study programmes. Learners will then have access to specialist support from Sky Recruitment Solutions team and the College when looking for job and apprenticeship roles after graduating. For employers, the partnership will provide the broad spectrum of candidates from apprenticeship roles to higher management positions – working with a single point of contact at either Sky Recruitment Solutions or Derby College.

Sky Recruitment Solutions’ Managing Director David Torrington explained: “I was struck by a presentation at a Marketing Derby Event that highlighted the high quality further and higher education available in the city but that there were challenges in retaining skills in the local area. “As a business committed to working in partnership to support the local economy, I therefore approached Derby College to explore opportunities for us to work together to tackle this issue. “This partnership is effectively a mutual referral approach.  We often work with employers to support their recruitment needs but would also like to assist in handling their apprenticeship requirements. “By working together, Sky Recruitment Solutions and the College can share resources and expertise to provide young people with a wider range of job opportunities.  We will also develop a joined up and easy to access service to employers.”

Derby College Deputy Principal, Employer and Economic Affairs, April Hayhurst added: “This partnership provides a single point of entry both for our current learners, local young people looking for jobs and apprenticeships and for employers who are looking for a range of skills and experience. “We were keen to work with Sky Recruitment Solutions as they are a company who share our values of providing employers with the skills they need to grow, supporting young people into the world of work and matching the right people with the right jobs. “This is therefore an exciting new venture with a host of opportunities and benefits both for young people and employers and we look forward to developing the service in the coming months.”
