Paul Brenham-Foster previews the latest show by the Good Companions Stage Society

As the winter draws to a close, Good Companions Stage Society take to the Derby stage once again to bring you their annual spring show.

Using songs and music based around a theme, this year the show takes a light hearted look at the Seven Deadly Sins and will leave audiences feeling sinfully delighted.

The spring show format has changed and evolved since the company’s first performance back in 1958” says Barbara Ashmore, the show’s producer, “but it still serves the same purpose in giving each of our members a chance to showcase their talents whether they are a singer, dancer or actor.

Dave Adey, the company’s music director adds “the format of show allows us to use a wide range of songs and although the choice is predominantly from musical theatre, this year we have included some from popular music such as Proud Mary and We Are The Champions. There is also a good balance of whole company, group, duet and solo numbers.

Choreographer Pauline Reader has been busy setting a challenge for the whole company. “As we included the song Puttin’ On The Ritz, the production team decided to make it a tap routine for everyone. With a wide range of ability the company have really pulled it off and this will be one of the highlights of the show.”

SINtillating Songs will be performed at Derby’s Guildhall Theatre from 4th to 8th April 2017 with shows every evening at 7.30pm and a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

"Let's be outrageous, Let's misbehave." Cole Porter

Saturday evenings performance will support the Society’s nominated charity for this year, Women's Work, which is a National Award Winning Charity, based in Derby, with the aim to improve the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged and vulnerable women.
