Open House At Broomfield Hall

Derby College’s Broomfield Hall will hold its annual open day on Sunday June 17 between 10am and 4pm with a wide range of family-friendly activities and demonstrations by students.

There will be a number of have a go activities - including tree climbing, sports and feeding some of the animals.

The animal unit will be open to visitors where a wide range of animals and reptiles are cared for by the students from snakes to porcupines and the chance to see the latest arrivals – a pair of wallabies in a purpose-built enclosure.

On the College farm there will be sheep shearing demonstrations and trailer rides.

Equestrian students will be showcasing their horse riding skills with displays between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

There will be guided walks around the gardens – including the border which recently inspired volunteers at Broomfield Hall to create an exhibit which won a Silver medal at the RHS Chatsworth Flower Show.

The nearby plant centre will also be open with an array of plants which are cultivated by the Horticulture students.

Head of Broomfield Hall Eileen Swan explained: “Our annual open day is always very well attended and has something for all the family.

“There are plenty of activities to join in with and the chance to find out more about the full and part time courses available at Broomfield Hall.”

Admission is £5 per car, £2 per adult on foot and £1 for children aged 16 and under on foot.  Refreshments will be available to buy throughout the day.
