Open Heritage Weekend-Derby-September 2018

The OPEN CENTRE in Normanton is impressive in their work developing greater understanding and respect between different faiths and communities in Derby. Amongst their activities, thousands of children experience their Faith Trails every year.

 

The Open Heritage Weekend 2018 offers these rare opportunities to all ages…

 

Friday 7 September 2018…2.00-3.30pm…Free Tour of New Normanton

 

Leaving from the OPEN CENTRE, 152 Pear Tree Road DE23 6QD. We will have a brief introduction to the history of New Normanton followed by a short tour.

Saturday 8 September 2018…10.00-2.00pm…Free Faith Trail in Normanton

 

Starting at the OPEN CENTRE, 152 Pear Tree Road, visiting the Hindu Temple, Mosque, Sikh Gurdwara (where food will be provided) and finishing at the Baptist Church. It is intended to be informative, stimulating and fun, a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and find out more of what is on our own doorstep. At certain places of worship, appropriate head coverings (scarves/plain caps/hats) are necessary, arms and legs covered and shoes to be taken off.

Both events are free although donations would be appreciated.
