Nuclear R&D centre launched

A vision to build a 65,000ft² R&D facility on Infinity Park Derby was announced at the launch of the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) Midlands at the iHub yesterday. A packed event heard Chief Executive Officer of Nuclear AMRC, Andrew Storer outline why Derby had been chosen as a location, starting with the opening of research facilities in the iHub. "Too much of the UK’s innovation sits on a shelf and we want to be part of turning this into applications." The Nuclear AMRC is part of the UK’s High-Value Manufacturing Catapult aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry with a focus of the Derby centre being controls instrumentation especially in nuclear applications.
