About New Mills Festival CIC

New Mills Festival CIC is organised by a committee, which is made up of members of the public both from the local community and other neighbouring villages who come from all walks of life. The committee give their skills, time and energy on an entirely voluntary basis to enrich our community life. We work with the local community and a wide range of stakeholders to organise a range of activities which benefit and enlarge the community’s experience of, and participation in, different creative activities and entertainments. These include the two week New Mills Festival, Lantern Procession, Light Up New Mills, New Mills Duck Race, New Mills Art Trail, New Mills Poetry Trail, an ongoing programme of live music, Bubblefest and much much more!

New Mills Festival are looking to recruit a volunteer with expertise in bookkeeping to work with the Treasurer and Finance Volunteer  to ensure  accounts are regularly updated in order for the team to have an accurate view of the organisation's finances.

The volunteer will benefit from a working within a team and be part of delivering a wide range of cultural, arts and entertainment events to the town and enhancing the community spirit

Job description – Volunteer bookkeeper

Essential

  • Experience in bookkeeping and finance
  • High level of personal integrity and commitment
  • Adaptable and flexible approach
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel, Dropbox and/or Google Docs

Desirable

  • Interest in New Mills Festival and the community
  • Lives local to New Mills

Requirements of the Role:

Will work with the Treasurer and Finance Volunteer to:

  • Regularly report the financial position at committee meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc.)
  • Banking, book keeping and record keeping
  • Assist with forecasts and budgets
  • Assist with audits
  • Help to prepare the Annual Report

Time commitment and location:

The time commitment is flexible and the role is home based until further notice. Once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, some group meetings will be reinstated in safe secure environment.
