MonsterHero Safari Trail Launches In St Peters Quarter
St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) is launching an innovative MonsterHero Safari Trail as part of the BID's fundraising campaign for the Royal Derby Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
MonsterHero Safari is a high street story-trail experience where families are tasked with hunting down the monster superheroes, displayed in public windows.
Sponsored by Wild in Art – the company behind the Rams Trail which will now take place in 2021 - the Safari works by utilising contactless NFC technology and QR codes, without the need for players to download or sign up to anything.
Launching on Friday August 21, there will be five large posters around the area with a QR code to launch the safari and then ten other stickers in business windows that could also be tapped or scanned to start the game.
Families will use their smartphone to learn each of the MonsterHero’s name, story, and superpowers. Once all ten MonsterHeroes are found, a free e-book, that tells the story of their first team-up, will be unlocked.
The MonsterHero Safari costs £2 to enter and participants will then be asked to top-up with a donation to the NHS charity or donate money online through the dedicated Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/spqfundraiserfornhs or dropping cash in tins at businesses across St Peters Quarter.
Local businesses are also being encouraged to start their own fundraising activities for the ICU such as raffles and competitions.
Helen Wathall, chair of St Peters Quarter BID Board said: “This is part of a national initiative to encourage people back onto the high street with a fun activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family in a safe and socially distanced way.
“We hope to raise a decent amount of money for the Royal Derby’s intensive care unit where staff have done such an incredible job throughout the pandemic and also provide a memorable experience that will bring a smile to the local community.”
