Melbourne Festival are excited to announce that the Call for Entries for the 2015 Emerging Talent Award is now open.

2014 saw the launch of the Melbourne Festival Emerging Talent Award for Young Artists fittingly timed to coincide with the tenth Melbourne Festival.  Young Artists - between 17 & 25 living or studying in the  Midlands are invited to submit their ideas on the theme “OUR IDENTITY” by 14th February. The Melbourne Festival selection team will then shortlist up to 20 proposals to be completed and exhibited at Melbourne Festival in September.

The winners of the £1000 First prize and £250 runner up prize will be awarded at Melbourne Festival on 19th September 2015.

The festival received over fifty proposals from Young Artists from the East Midlands in 2014, from which fifteen were shortlisted to submit their final piece. The judging panel, after much deliberation selected three winners - Sidra Fatima received a commendation, Emily Smalley received the £250 Runner Up Award and the £1000 Award for the Winner was awarded to William Hughes.

William Hughes, said he was “delighted with the award”, said that “the award would go towards paying for a studio for the year”.  He will also get a place on the trail next year and mentoring from one of the festival team.
