Matlock Storytelling Cafe presents: Something in the Water, Sweet, Salt and Selkie by Amy Douglas

Fri 4 Nov 2022 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM GMT

Imperial Rooms, DE43NL

Come Friday the 4th November we have the wonderful Amy Douglas coming to Matlock to tell us Something in the Water, Sweet, Salt and Selkie.

Selkies are mythical creatures, in the water appearing as seals and on land as human. And as you may suspect there are plenty of stories about them.

Amy Douglas has been central to the modern British storytelling landscape as performer, promoter and advocate for the past three decades. Her three folk tale collections have all received Storytelling World Awards. After winning 'Young Storyteller of the Year' at 16, Amy Douglas apprenticed to world-renowned traditional Scots Traveller storyteller and ballad-singer, Duncan Williamson, and now holds many of his stories and ballads in trust, including many of his tales of the selkies.

Our wonderful house band, Cage of Crows, will be with us providing sumptuous tunes and beautiful melodies.

We are delighted to tell you that soup, cakes, teas coffees etc will be available from our kitchen once more. So now you can leave all your snacks at home. You are still most welcome to bring a bottle of something with you.

We urge you to book in advance as we cannot guarantee there will be tickets available on the door. We would also like to encourage our live audience members to perform a lateral flow test before attending.

We at Matlock Storytelling Cafe are embracing our quest; to bring top quality performances to adult audiences.
Grab a ticket, turn off your phone and join us on our journey.
Online ticket sales will close at 7pm on the night. The doors open at 7.00pm, stories and music 7.30-9.30

Tickets are £7 and are available from buytickets.at/matlockstorytellingcafe/785498
