Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing Introduction event - Wednesday 23 May 2018 - 5-7pm

We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting an exhibition of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci in 2019 as part of the celebration to mark the 500th anniversary of his death. In preparation, I would be delighted if you might join us at a special event, during which we will sharing more about the exhibition and asking for your help in shaping our plans, on:

Wednesday 23 May 2018 - 5-7pm

Derby Museum and Art Gallery, The Strand, Derby, DE1 1BS

Working with Royal Collection Trust has enabled us to bring these fantastic works to Derby, a city of makers. Leonardo is an inspiration to makers across the world, and this exhibition has the potential to engage the whole city.

At the event, Royal Collection Trust's Martin Clayton, Head of Prints and Drawings and a specialist in the drawings of Leonardo, will be sharing plans for the exhibition along with details of the works on show. Twelve drawings have been selected to reflect the full range of Leonardo's interests, including painting, sculpture, architecture, music, anatomy, engineering, cartography, geology and botany. The exhibition provides a great chance to create a range of learning opportunities and activities linked to Leonardo's work to inspire people of all ages across all our communities. We hope that you will be able to join us and share your ideas on how we can make the most of this unique opportunity for our city.
