Free Whisky For Our Local Community!

If you are local and a whisky lover, come and help us keep the local area around the Distillery’s home in Shining Cliff Woods litter-picked and rubbish free.

Since moving into the Wire Works in Ambergate in 2016, we soon found ourselves pulling on our walking boots and cycling shoes to get to work and to explore the local area for recreation and botanicals! We’re blessed with the abundance of trails through Shining Cliff Woods, and along the River Derwent and Cromford Canal paths. We even stock a dinky map of the immediate area around the Distillery in our shop so visitors can make a day of their visit to see us!

Sadly, we also encounter litter in our wonderful surroundings of woodland, hedgerows, fields and footpaths so we always carry a bag in our pockets to collect anything we find whilst out and about

Being accessible from the busy A6, our immediate environment can get polluted as rubbish is rushed on the winds up and down the road, sticking to the verges and hedge bottoms.  So we decided we’d do something to try and make a difference in our local community by championing a regular litter pick.

We hold litter picks once a quarter, targeting different areas each time, and there’s an open invitation to anyone living or staying close by to come along and help pick.  We’ve donated a community cask of whisky to the litter pick cause (that one day will yield around 350 bottles when it matures) as a small incentive to join in.  If you would like to become a co-owner in the community cask then all you have to do is turn up to at least 4 litter picks and you’re in!

So, if you have some time to spare to help de-litter the local environment, come and join our growing community of pickers for our next litter pick.  Our 8th litter pick will be held on Saturday 7th of December, starting at from the Distillery at 9.30am and we usually aim to pick as a group for around 90 minutes.
