FORMAT IN THE VIRTUAL WORLD

FORMAT21 Open Call Shortlist

Our international jury have been working tirelessly looking through and assessing the proposals, sent in from 66 countries. We received 813 submissions and are delighted to announce our shortlist of 203 amazing projects.

Our FORMAT curators are now working on making their selection for exhibition at FORMAT21 and we will be making the final announcement of who the successful artists are in the coming weeks.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this year's Open Call which has been of such a high standard of work.

Funding FORMAT21

FORMAT has been recognised by both the Arts Fund and Art Council of England for the important international programmes and the support it gives artists in developing their work and providing them with opportunities to present to a wider audience.

The Arts Fund grant will enable the development of virtual galleries and research into social engagement online for FORMAT21. QUAD together with FORMAT has been given support from the Arts Council England Culture Recovery Fund, allowing us to plan with confidence for next year's festival.

We Recommend

FORMAT patron and leading British photographer Brian Griffin has written volume 2 of his autobiography entitled Black Country DADA, 1969 - 1990.

Written in all his own words, with an introduction by W.M Hunt, Brian talks about making his way as an editorial photographer in Britain,
getting arrested in Moscow and avoiding being shot in Lebanon.

Brian's books have a habit of selling out, so don't miss this opportunity to pre-order you copy, just click on the photograph.
