Flamenco Edition returns to Déda with the sensational Compañía Olga Pericet
Flamenco Edition, the hand-flicking, toe-tapping brainchild of Birmingham-based flamenco artist and promoter Ana Garcia, is back in Derby next month.
On Friday 13 May, Flamenco Edition 2016 presents Olga Pericet Company at Déda, led by Olga Pericet, one of the most celebrated choreographers and dancers gracing the world stage today.
Sin título will take the audience on an intimate journey to a world in which distinctive and contrasting emotions are expressed through different flamenco styles native to the Spanish regions of Andalusia.
In the new work, Olga Pericet Company, well known for presenting a powerful, brave and bold approach to flamenco, will celebrate the Spanish art form with a contemporary twist, and a dance language synonymous with Pericet’s ground-breaking style.
In 2012, The Guardian’s Sanjoy Roy said “Pericet is a small figure with stunning stage presence, ferocious energy locked-up in her sophisticated technique.”
In 2014, El País said of Pericet: “A dancer who turns into a goddess when she goes out on stage.”
Olga Pericet’s innovative approach to choreography and dance blends traditional flamenco values with an intense female force, this is a true tribute to tradition with a contemporary language.
Sin título comes to Déda on Friday 13 May at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £14, £12 concession, and are available from www.deda.uk.com or via the Box Office on 01332 370911.
