First Art open call - autumn 2015

Today First Art has released details of a new commission for artists.

This autumn, Bolsover town will host a week-long festival from 12 – 18th October 2015 – in shops, restaurants, tea rooms, alleyways, churches, empty shops, in the Food Bank, in pubs, parks, gardens and fish and chip shops.  It will end in a weekend full of theatre, music, crafts, poetry, dance, BMX ballet, storytelling, mini safaris, film projection, workshops, singing, making, adventures, eating and drinking.  Artists will come from near and far to peddle their ideas and their imaginations across the town, from Carr Vale to the town centre and up to Bolsover Castle.  Finding ways of connecting all the areas is key.  The theme will, simply, be BOLSOVER STORIES.

We are looking for artists who are excited about working in communities, and working alongside community members to imagine and create work together.  Some pieces will be small, others will be larger: we are looking for brilliant companies, directors, designers, musicians, curators, circus performers, dancers, writers, makers, animateurs, imagineers, choreographers, composers or any other sort of artist who can work in a community to create a high impact piece of work.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Wednesday 17th June 2015 at 5pm.

Interested Artists should contact Sophie Hunter Creative Producer (Events and Commissions)
