Dronfield Hall Barn Receives Funding Boost!

Dronfield Hall Barn
Receives Funding Boost!

We’re delighted to announce that Dronfield Hall Barn has received a grant from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund!

The Barn is one of 445 heritage organisations in the UK receiving a financial boost from the government, thanks to the £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund to help them through the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisations around the country, including the Barn, will share £103 million, to help restart important reconstruction work and maintenance on cherished heritage sites, keeping venues open and supporting those working in the sector.

We’re very pleased to have received £79,200 – and, in a similar way to the Heritage Emergency Fund we received earlier in the year, this will be used to support our core costs – staffing, utility bills, building & communication costs, and will make sure we can operate in a sustainable way until at least next March. This vital funding is from the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage and the Heritage Stimulus Fund – funded by Government and administered at arm’s length by Historic England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Alan Powell, Chairman of Dronfield Heritage Trust, said:

“We’re very grateful to the Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the National Lottery Fund and Historic England to receive this funding. This year has been a very challenging time for us here at the Barn, but I would also like to express my thanks to the team for all their hard work in securing this funding, as well as pay tribute to our ever supportive volunteers and Friends.”

Maria Smith, Activities and Intepretations Manager, said:

“This welcome funding boost helps us plan for the future with confidence, and ensures that we can remain at the heart of Dronfield’s community, by providing volunteering opportunities, holding online events such as our popular Virtual Markets, and running our Collection and Delivery service, which continues to support some of the most vulnerable in our community. We’ve been blown away by everyone’s support during these challenging times, and we’re very thankful for all those who have donated to us in recent months, or helped out in other ways.”

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said:

“As a nation it is essential that we preserve our heritage and celebrate and learn from our past. This massive support package will protect our shared heritage for future generations, save jobs and help us prepare for a cultural bounce back post-covid.”
